Description

Role

Under minimal direction, performs engineering, project management, and supervisory work of considerable difficulty in managing capital projects and directing the activities of Flood Control District personnel.

Major Duties, Responsibilities



Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydro-Science, or related field.

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in Civil Engineering or other water resource related field, to include three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.

An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Must be licensed as a professional civil engineer and be registered with the State of Arizona within six (6) months of hire.
Must obtain Certification as a Floodplain Manager (CFM) through the American State Floodplain Management Association within six (6) months of hire.

Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office and field environment year-round in all weather conditions and includes exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, mist, and chemicals.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Must be able to walk over uneven terrain, hike considerable distances carrying equipment, lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 90 pounds, and work in cramped positions.
