Central Missouri- This position covers the entire state. Candidates must be domiciled or be willing to relocate to one of the following counties: Benton, Boone, Callaway, Camden, Cole, Cooper, Gasconade, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Morgan, Osage, Pettis, Phelps, or Pulaski.

The Division of Animal Health develops and implements animal health programs to improve and protect the health of Missouri's livestock. • Maintain records, conduct data entry, and produce reports when requested.
• Learn and understand laws and regulations overseen by the Division of Animal Health, Disease Control program.
• Assist the Animal Health Division in preparedness and response to foreign animal diseases and disasters. This will be accomplished through outreach to industry groups and producers regarding biosecurity, maintenance and testing of emergency equipment, testing for livestock and poultry diseases, and assisting with various programs which help protect the State’s diverse livestock and poultry industries.
• Assist Animal Health personnel in maintaining data collection equipment at livestock markets.
• Conduct meetings with private veterinarians, livestock owners and producers, market operators, dealers, University Extension, and other interested groups to explain and promote state and federal animal health statutes, regulations and programs.
• Assist with other Animal Health Division personnel and private veterinarians performing health inspections at the Missouri State Fair, local livestock exhibits and large exhibitions throughout the state.
• Attend emergency management meetings as well as other necessary or assigned training.
• Employ skills which aid in proper investigation of complaints, including proficient writing skills.
• Perform other work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Four (4) or more years of professional or technical experience which affords some knowledge in agriculture, animal science, or animal health industries, and animal welfare requirements.
• Must have a valid MO Driver’s License.
• Required experience, knowledge and skills may be obtained through direct work experience or through the completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree program.
• This position may require standing for extending periods of time, lifting items up to 50 lbs., extensive travel, working in adverse weather conditions, and capabilities in handling livestock.

• Strong work ethic, ability to stand for long periods of time, computer skills, technical writing, and reading comprehension are qualities this employee must possess.
• Able to maintain and demonstrate a professional, positive attitude.
• Able to work independently, set weekly schedules, and to manage time efficiently to complete tasks and meet deadlines, and also work in a team environment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and establish good working relationships with producers and stakeholders.

$43,698.72 per Year
