Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Fire Inspector I in the Department of Building and Fire Safety/DSC. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.**

Under general supervision, performs entry level fire inspection work including conducting general inspections, enforcing codes, and providing information to the public; and performs related duties as assigned.

This classification is distinguished as being the first in the Fire Inspector series and the Fire Inspector II performs a variety of complex and specialized work that requires additional certifications and experience.

Incumbents may be eligible to non-competitively advance to Fire Inspector II when they are certified as a Fire Inspector II and all requirements of the Fire Inspector II position have been met and verified.

This job announcement is for the Fire Inspector I position. Candidates interested in receiving consideration for both the Fire Inspector I and Fire Inspector II vacancy must apply for each position separately via the respective job bulletin. Candidates who apply for and are invited to move forward will undergo the same assessment process and interview only once; scores earned will apply to both recruitments.

**NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:
Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.

Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.
