STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS SUPERVISOR (Promotional & Open Competitive)
Description
Under the direction of an assigned administrator, perform a variety of specialized activities in the management and maintenance of the Student Information System (SIS) and other assigned systems; provide user support and training to District staff and users of the SIS; troubleshoot hardware and software systems; prepare, verify and submit CALPADS reports; train and evaluate assigned staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform a variety of specialized activities in the management and maintenance of the SIS and other assigned programs; assist and advise administration on the maintenance and deployment of other technology related to District operations.
Troubleshoot hardware and software system related to the maintenance and operation of SIS; follow-up on user and system issues; monitor database integrity and restore corrupt data; communicate with vendor technical staff to resolve issues or discuss needs.
Train and evaluate assigned staff in areas related to attendance accounting, SIS procedures and State ADA reporting; assign and review work to assure compliance with established standards, procedures and requirements.
Provide user support and training to District staff and users of the SIS; facilitate individual or group trainings at various school sites.
Create custom solutions for end users; receive and respond to report requests from District departments and sites; develop queries, spreadsheets and custom reports as needed; produce custom reports to analyze student academic performance and evaluate instructional support models using SQL, spreadsheet software and other applications as needed.
Monitor and assure database integrity by running a variety of stored procedures, queries and reports; restore corrupt data as needed; create and maintain database security roles and groups; import and export student data.
Install system updates and upgrades; maintain backups and archives of SIS data; test and implement new SIS applications; notify users of significant modifications to the system.
Prepare and maintain a variety of records, lists and reports related to assigned activities; maintain and update pertinent technical reference materials and vendor information; submit student Eligibility in Local Context (ELS) for student eligibility in the UC system.
Perform annual student information system new-year rollover to create database for next school year.
Create and maintain summer school database; support activities related to summer school procedures and activities.
Assure data integrity and coordinate with various departments and staff to assure accurate reporting for CALPADS, ADA and other student data; train District and site staff on CALPADS data entry standards and procedures; map CALPADS codes in SIS for extract; reconcile, certify and submit a variety of reports; maintain CALPADS security/user roles.
Serve as liaison between vendors and District with regard to SIS needs.
Interpret Education Code, Board policies and a variety of State and federal rules and regulations related to student data reporting; read annuals and remain current on District, State and federal student data requirements; research and compile a variety of information; compute statistical information for various federal, State and local reports.
Attend a variety of meetings, conferences, trainings and workshops; participate on assigned committees.
Operate standard office equipment; drive a vehicle to various sites to conduct work.

Other Important information: The duration of the eligibility list is one (1) year unless extended by the Personnel Commission. The eligibility list from this recruitment will be used for full-time, part-time and limited term positions.New employees to the district are place on step A of the salary schedule. The maximum salary is reached after 3 ½ years of employment.

Promotional and Open Competitive opportunities may result in one of the following: 1) a dual-certified list in which internal employees of the San Lorenzo Unified School District are awarded seniority points to their final passing score before placement on the eligibility list, or 2) two separate eligibility lists consisting of candidates on a promotional only list and an open list. In the latter case, candidates on the promotional list are referred to the hiring authority before candidates on the open.
