The City of Chandler is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as Neighborhood Resources Director. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. This position is unclassified and will serve at the pleasure of the City Manager. The first review of applications will be Friday, September 5, 2025.

The new Neighborhood Resources Director will lead a team of dedicated professionals that provide the community with resident education and participation programs, code investigation and enforcement, housing programs and community related outreach projects and initiatives.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Neighborhood Resources Department’s mission is to strengthen and enrich the community by providing high-quality services and resources through educational programs, neighborhood revitalization, resident empowerment, partnerships, and assisting those in need.

The Department has 72 employees who work in the following divisions: Community Resources & Development, Housing & Redevelopment, and Neighborhood Preservation, which includes Neighborhood Programs and Code Enforcement. The 2025-26 fiscal year budget of $56.7 million supports the staff and services provided.

THE POSITION
The Neighborhood Resources Director position will be vacant due to a promotion. It is anticipated that the new Neighborhood Resources Director will be an experienced government professional with outstanding leadership and personnel management skills with a breadth of experience in managing development programs. The ideal candidate will be an experienced government professional with proven leadership, strong personnel management skills, and a breadth of experience in community development and neighborhood programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective staff management and possess strong political acumen in working with elected officials, the development community, and city staff.

The Director will develop partnerships with other departments, governments or agencies to work on joint projects and address transportation and development activities through a commitment to service delivery. In addition, the Director will serve as a liaison with other city departments, City Council, neighborhood groups, public and private agencies and other communities and will conduct meetings and presentations with such groups as needed. Some of the primary responsibilities for this position include:

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is qualifying. The most attractive candidates will possess the following:

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration or a related field.

Experience: At least eight to ten years of experience in a municipal environment, including three to five years at the senior management level and at least five years of supervisory experience.

Residency: Residency in the City of Chandler, within one year from appointment, is required per the City Charter.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for the Neighborhood Resources Director is $167,294.40 to $225,243.20, with placement in the range dependent on qualifications. In addition, an excellent executive benefit package is provided including retirement benefits through participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
