This position will be located at Pomme de Terre State Park, 23451 Park Entrance Road, Pittsburg, Missouri 65724. Shift is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (30-minute lunch break). The position will have an office in the Pittsburg area. Shifts may vary with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility; that could include working nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Must be available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.

Pomme de Terre State Park has two areas to manage, the Hermitage area with a campground, day use area, and two boat ramps and the Pittsburg area with another campground, day use shelter, marina, and two boat ramps. There is also concessionaire operated lodging units which include, yurts, camper cabins, a full-service cabin and the Lake House. This park has more campsites than any other state park in Missouri.

• Oversee and manage the overall operation and maintenance of Pomme de Terre State Park, including operation and maintenance of campgrounds, day use areas, trail network, lodging, small maintenance and repair projects, and visitor service functions.
• Supervise permanent, seasonal, temporary, and volunteer employees in the protection, maintenance, operation, and repair of state parks/historic sites, natural and cultural resources, facilities, equipment, and systems. Skill in managing and collaborating with staff.
• Plan and direct natural or cultural history interpretation, resource management and research for Pomme de Terre State Park
• Plan and coordinate special events, group outings, and special program requests with a variety of stakeholders.
• Colaborate with other agencies and/or stakeholders always seeking for opportunities to partner to better serve visitor or protect resources
• Skill in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, and/or preparing federal or state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned program.
• Assist in resource stewardship activities.
• Ability to develop budget and project recommendations and perform administrative functions including revenue and procurement.
• Respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, disturbances, natural disasters, and any other significant events within the park.
• Supervise the Superintendents and oversee the management of the South-Central Management Unit which includes Ha Ha Tonka State Park and Harry S Truman State Park.
• Oversee the budgets of all three of the parks in the South-Central Management Unit.

• Oversight of concessionaire operation : Include monthly meetings and reports, contract oversight and compliance, MRA requests
• Permit Oversight : Ensuring compliance with water and wastewater permits contracts, state and federal laws and regulations.
• Local Partnerships : Initiate and maintain relationships with stakeholders including but not limited to the Corps of Engineers, Mo Department of Conservation and local Chamber of Commerce.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can include: Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Botany, Biology, Natural Sciences, Business of Public Administration or related field AND 5 or more years of management, supervision and participation in interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance and enhancement of state parks and historic sites . (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)

Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
