POSITION SUMMARY

The Transit & Traffic Operations Project Manager position will assist in the planning and operations of the City’s LauderGO! mobility services (Community Shuttle, Water Trolley, and MicroMover). This position will assist the Transit Planner with the management of these services to ensure that transit operations align with the City’s standard and Broward County’s goals. The work will mainly focus on oversight of the LauderGO! program, innovative solutions to elevate the City’s transit services, and grant funding to expand service areas and amenities. This position will work closely with the County, State, and residents to identify transit challenges and possible solutions; assist in the development of transit project concepts; and assist with grant development.

This Project Manager position will also assist with traffic engineering tasks to maximize the transportation system’s efficiency and performance, as well as promoting safety. The position will directly support the Transportation Services Division Manager.

This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Federation of Public Employees and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Federation of Public Employees.

This job classification is in Management Category III for benefits purposes, which includes six (6) additional Management Vacation Days per calendar year and a Vehicle Allowance of $250/month.

JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in transit planning, civil engineering, architecture, construction management, or a closely related field. At least three (3) years of professional experience in transit planning, traffic engineering, engineering, construction management, and/or project implementation for a state, county, or local government planning agency or private organization directly involved in transit or transportation planning or development. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form (J-204) to the online application. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position is generally sedentary. Employees sit most of the time, but may spend periods of time walking or standing for brief periods of time.
