POSITION OVERVIEW

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs manual and clerical tasks in the ordering, purchasing, receiving, stocking, storing, issuance, distribution, maintenance and repair of various parts, tools, materials, supplies, equipment, inventory and/or surplus property. WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires lifting of heavy items of up to 60 pounds and/or walking on rough surfaces routinely and/or regular physical exertion such as climbing of ladders. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Maybe required to operate a City of Houston vehicle.

This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier I Level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) months of experience in inventory control, materials management, record keeping, or clerical experience is required. May require experience in operating a forklift and other motorized or non-motorized materials handling equipment.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Texas Driver License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).

PREFERENCES

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
