Job Description:

Purpose:

Under limited direction, supervise the daily operations and activities of specialized Human Resource (HR) professionals in support of management and other employee groups within the assigned department on a broad range of HR issues and decisions.

Position Overview

The Human Resources Supervisor (Employee Relations/Leave Management) administers and manages all aspects of Employee Relations, City of Austin Leave programs, and UKG/Timekeeping processes for the department. This includes staff performance evaluation and management, employee relations investigations, training, and adherence to Municipal Civil Service rules and COA policy and procedure, as well as governmental and legal compliance. This position collaborates with internal/external customers, peers, management, and stakeholders to foster and develop effective relationships. This position will supervise a team of seven (7) Employee Relations, Leave Management and UKG/Timekeeping professionals and report to the Human Resources Manager III.

The ideal candidate will provide advice, guidance and consultation to department executives, management, and the department workforce. Identify needs, risks, liabilities, strategic opportunities, and service gaps through analysis and examination of data and information. Investigate and respond to complaints and workforce issues; resolve routine matters and make recommendations to address findings and concerns. The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory leadership skills and strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Salary Range: $80,490.00 - $102,200.00 annually

Work Hours:

8:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Hours may change according to departmental needs; work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work.

Driver's Requirement:

This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.
