Definition & Distinguishing CharacteristicsThe Colusa County Public Works Department is seeking a qualified and motivated individual for the position of Road Maintenance Leadworker. As a Road Maintenance Leadworker, you will lead and participate in the work of road maintenance crews, perform complex road construction and repair tasks, and operate a wide range of heavy construction and maintenance equipment. This position plays a key role in planning, assigning, and overseeing daily maintenance operations while ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with County standards.

Exercises functional and technical supervision over lower level workers.
QualificationsAny combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience : Four years of increasingly responsible experience performing road maintenance work involving the operation of heavy construction equipment.
Training : High School Diploma or an equivalent certificate or diploma recognized by the State of California.
License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California Class A driver’s license and may require endorsements and certificates.

Supplemental InformationThe salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
