GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

Under the supervision of the Office Manager, this position performs entry-level to routine customer service work. Responsible for providing customer service to park visitors in person, over the phone, and in writing, as well as performing general clerical tasks for the Big Bend Ranch State Park Complex. This position is responsible for revenue collection, permit, license, and park store sales. Responsible for park store stocking and assisting with park store inventory. This position performs general cleaning of the Park Headquarters, restrooms, and grounds. Responsible for clerical tasks, including answering telephones, emails, processing incoming and outgoing mail, general revenue reconciliation, report data entry, preparing correspondence, filing, and other maintenance tasks. This position conducts visitor orientations, interprets park resources and policies, and provides information to park visitors, and the general public. Handles complaints and emergencies and interacts with a large volume of park visitors. Works under close to moderate supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience:

One year of experience in general clerical, cash handling, or customer service.

Licensure:

Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid State driver's license .

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

Two years of experience in customer service.

One year of clerical experience, such as accounting, typing, filling, recordkeeping, and data entry.

One year of experience in use of automated equipment or word processing and spreadsheet equipment and software.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of general office procedures.

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.

Knowledge of telephone procedure and etiquette.

Knowledge of basic mathematics.

Knowledge of general custodial duties.

Skill in using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Skill in effective verbal and written communication.

Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts.

Skill in managing several projects simultaneously.

Ability to accurately handle cash and account for revenue collected.

Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

Ability to work as a member of a team.

Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple changing priorities.

Ability to perform general routine cleaning and light housekeeping duties.

Ability to respond to public inquiries in a timely manner.

Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 20 lbs.

Ability to interpret rules and maintain visitor compliance with park rules and regulations.

Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use.

Required to work 40 hours per week with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Required to adjust to changing schedule if necessary.

Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.

Required to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 20 lbs.

May be required to operate a State vehicle.

Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays.

Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures.

Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
