To plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise the activities of lower-level professional, custodial, and clerical staff, and the operations and specialized activities of the Event Center and city sponsored events. Supervises and facilitates various City events through the Event Center, and coordination of events at the Sylvan Center. Monitors and maintains the operating and program budget and ensures all vendors are properly licensed and meet all insurance requirements. Provides information and services to facility users. Responsible for maintaining and marketing the Event Center facility.

Typical Qualifications

Knowledge of:Ability to:Experience and Training

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Three (3) years of experience similar to that of an Event and Community Center Technician, overseeing facilities operations, maintenance and coordination and planning of events, with at least one year of supervisory experience.

And: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade.

Note: Additional college with course work in public administration, business administration, or a related field is desirable. Coursework from an accredited college, vocational training school, certification program or military training program in facilities, maintenance, event planning, or other area or field closely related to the intent of the class may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience on the basis of 2.5 semester units (3.75 quarter units) are equal to one month of experience.

License or Certificate:
May need to possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance as required by the position.

Supplemental Information

On a continuous basis, sit at a desk. Intermittently twist and reach office equipment; write and use keyboard to communicate through written means; run errands; lift or carry weight of 50 pounds or less.
