The LA County Board of Supervisors recently declared a local state of emergency for homelessness , and the County is working to revise and expand our response to help all who are affected. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to help us in the mission of addressing issues like housing, mental health, and substance use. The Department of Homeless Services and Housing is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Departmental Information Security Officer II vacancies related to the homelessness crisis.

Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Departmental Information Security Officer II.

Requirements to Qualify

Option I: A Bachelor’s Degree* in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Assurance, or a related discipline -AND- Five (5) years of experience in all of the following areas: risk management**, information security, cybersecurity, incident response, and privacy roles -AND- Two (2) years of experience in managing and coordinating information security projects -AND- possession of one or more of the following certifications***: CISSP, CISM, CCISO, or equivalent.

Option II: Three (3) years of experience administering an Information Security Program, including responsibility for risk management**, information security, cybersecurity, incident response, and privacy coordination at the level of Departmental Information Security Officer I **** -AND- possession of one or more of the following certifications***: CISSP, CISM, CCISO, or equivalent.

You MUST meet the above requirement(s) in order to be appointed to fill any vacancies related to this recruitment.

**Risk management experience in information security would focus on enabling the department to make well-informed, justified expenditures that better secure IT assets focused on storage, processing and transmitting department information.

**** Experience at the level of the Los Angeles County's class of Departmental Information Security Officer I is defined as, u nder general direction, leads the information security function for a County department or for the Information Systems Bureau of the Department of Health Services and is responsible for the development and delivery of a comprehensive departmental information security strategy to optimize the department’s security posture.

License

A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Physical Class

II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
