Overview

We are looking for a Hazardous Waste Assistant (TEMP) to join our Household Hazardous Waste Team at the Larimer County Landfill. In this hands-on role, you will gain valuable experience in waste diversion, chemical safety, and material segregation while assisting residents at the Household Hazardous Waste site.

The typical schedule is Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

• Providing customer service at the Household Hazardous Waste collection facility.
• Assisting with screening and accepting household hazardous waste from program participants.
• Assisting with inventory and storage of hazardous waste for the Drop n' Swap.
• Keeping the collection facility clean and maintaining appropriate hygiene standards.
• Using hand tools with a moderate amount of force (such as opening lids).
• Working both indoors and outdoors throughout the day in all weather conditions.

What we're looking for:

• Knowledge of safe work practices and proper use of PPE such as safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and gloves.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and the public.
• Ability to complete assigned work efficiently and meet established performance standards.
• Skill in operating or willingness to learn to operate light equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and drum dollies.
• Ability to read labels on waste materials and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• The capability to perform medium labor and work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain regular, reliable attendance.
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, partner agencies, and the community.
• Availability to work Saturdays as part of the regular schedule.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Six (6) months of experience in a customer service-related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities preferred.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
