We are seeking energetic, self-motivated individuals licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the Texas State Bar to fill full-time litigator and transactional positions with the City of Austin City Attorney's Office.

The City Attorney's Office offers a comprehensive range of professional legal services, including those related to litigation matters and municipal government operations. Attorneys directly interface with the client, conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, appear in court at all levels, and attend meetings of the governing body.

Division Overviews:

The successful candidate will be assigned to the Utilities and Regulatory Division of the City Attorney’s Office. The Utilities and Regulatory Division provides legal advice to several City departments, including Energy, Water, Resource Recovery, Technology Services, and city regulatory functions.

The legal services may involve general and complex transactional matters, technology, privacy, regulatory compliance, and finance. The work is transactional in nature and may include participation in alternative dispute resolution processes, ratemaking, or support to the Litigation Division.

The attorney will be responsible for preparing and making presentations at City Council meetings, both in public and in executive sessions. The attorney will also be responsible for negotiating and drafting contracts, conducting research, reviewing and drafting legal memoranda or resolutions, ordinances, City Code amendments, agenda postings, and other legal instruments. The scope of the assigned duties may vary depending on the client's business needs.

Salary Range: Commensurate

Location: Austin City Hall, 301 W. 2nd Street, 4th Floor, Austin , TX 78701

Days and Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Monday - Friday.
