IT Program Manager

Purpose:

IT Program Managers deliver technology services and business enabling solutions with great agility and leverage, magnify and improve existing best practices to complete incredibly complex Citywide initiatives. Ensures the best possible use of all resources to deliver maximum value and benefit to the portfolio while also developing the leaders of tomorrow. Serves as City IT’s expert and primary resource for the oversight, management, and performance of the lifecycle of City IT investments and initiatives.

Overview of the Position:

The position of IT Program Manager in the Project Management Office is responsible for managing and successfully delivering critical and high-risk enterprise-wide IT Programs. Exceptional stakeholder management is essential in meeting organizational goals and communicating across a wide spectrum of audiences including executive leadership.

Responsibilities include collaborating with project managers to define strategy, develop and execute project plans, identifying and managing dependencies between projects and prioritizing projects, and evaluate and manage trade-offs between project size, complexity, cost, urgency, risk and stakeholder value. This position is responsible for partnering with stakeholders to define success metrics and ensure effective, high-quality program and project outcomes that produce value.
IT Program Manager should work towards meeting Project Management Office goals and objectives and contribute to the goal of continuous improvement of the PMO. This position will be responsible for a full range of supervisory activities : selection, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for dismissal.

Pay Range:

$104,300.00 - $140,670.40

Standard Business hours. Must reside in the state of Texas. This position is primarily remote, however it may require onsite presence as operational needs require.

This position requires a Criminal Background Investigation Financial and CJIS.

Critical Employee:

This position has been designated as a Critical Employee. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and support activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services. (Make sure it is noted that employee will have to return to work site).

Travel:

If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
