The Bureau of Special Health Care Needs is seeking a professional, qualified, compassionate, and dedicated candidate to fill a Registered Nurse Specialist/Supervisor position. This position will serve as the Program Manager for the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) Program.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay
- Provide administrative management and oversight of the CYSHCN Program to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Provide nursing consultation and programmatic guidance to Service Coordinators, who work with program participants, family members, and providers located throughout the state.
- Review prior authorization requests for CYSHCN services, using critical nursing judgment and budgetary analysis, to appropriately allocate program resources.
- Evaluate current operations and formulate recommendations to improve efficiency of processes and quality of CYSHCN services.
- Participate in extensive collaboration with Local Public Health Agencies; Missouri Department of Social Services, MO HealthNet Division; Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Office of Childhood; as well as other DHSS staff, managers, and leadership.
- Conduct monthly quality assurance reviews of Service Coordinator caseload reports and participant records to ensure consistent and accurate application of program policies and guidelines.
- Complete monthly contractor invoice reviews and annual on-site contractor reviews to ensure the service coordination delivery system standards are being adhered to in an efficient and consistent manner
- Provide oversight of the Kids Assistive Technology (KAT) contract.
Minimum Qualifications: - Candidates must hold a current Missouri Registered Nurse license and have 2-4 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Candidates must have supervisory nursing experience and extensive clinical knowledge related to state programs and medical services for children and youth with special health care needs and disabilities.
- Experience in service coordination/case management, home care/home health, and pediatrics is preferred.
- Experience in quality improvement and assurance is preferred.
- Attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills, and the ability to work closely and collaboratively with SHCN staff, providers, and internal and external stakeholders are strong qualifications for this position.
- A positive attitude, exceptional organizational and time management skills, and computer literacy, are also important qualifications for this role.
