Position DescriptionThe Associate Vice President for Sponsored Programs position is housed in the Office of Research and Innovation and reports to the Executive Vice President. This team facilitates and manages all sponsored program activity inclusive of both research and non-research funding for the institution.
The ideal candidate must be proficient in both oral and written communication, make sound decisions quickly, plan, organize, and work effectively under stressful situations. In this position, the successful candidate must also be able to read, analyze, and interpret reports, as well as write general correspondence and policies.
Major/Essential Functions- Serves as the TTUHSC Institutional Official/ Authorized Organizational Official (AOR), providing institutional assurance and official endorsement for all sponsored programs proposals, awards, and compliance documents submitted to external sponsors, including federal agencies.
- Oversees pre-award and non-financial post-award functions, including proposal submission, budgeting, contract negotiation, award setup, progress reporting, and closeout, ensuring alignment with institutional, sponsor, and regulatory requirements.
- Appointed as primary point of contact and liaison between TTUHSC and external sponsors, funding agencies, and partner institutions, ensuring smooth communication, fostering collaborative relationships, and advancing the institution's research and funding objectives.
- Provides strategic direction for the Office of Sponsored Programs, aligning operations with institutional research goals. Works collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure that research administration processes are streamlined, effective, and conducive to sponsored programs' growth and excellence.
- Responsible for fostering a culture of compliance, integrity, and innovation in research administration. Ensures compliance with federal and state laws, sponsor regulations, including Uniform Guidance and FAR, and institutional policy related to sponsored programs on all TTUHSC campuses. Serve as the reporting official when sponsoring agency(ies) must be notified of non-compliance.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree required in appropriate field based on assigned area of responsibility; nine years of professional and management experience in related area. Additional job-related education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis.
