Job Description:

Purpose:

This position performs activities on and near the Airport Operations Areas (AOA) of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations and the Airport Certification Manual (ACM), which includes conducting daily inspections of all airfield-related areas.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.



Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation with an Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Aviation Management, Airway Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, plus one (1) year of airport operations work experience.
OR

Three (3) years of experience in the U.S. Military Services, airport operations, or another related aviation field.
OR

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Aviation Management, Airway Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
Valid Texas Class "C" Driver License.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain Federally-mandated security clearances required to work at an airport.

Notes to Candidate:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Perform Part 139 inspections. Maintain compliance with all FAA regulations regarding airfield operations. Respond to and assist with emergency situations on the AOA. Perform gate management of aircraft movements in AODB. Provides training and classroom instruction to other departments requiring Part 139 yearly training. Hazardous material and substance inspections including fuel truck and tenant fuel farms, tenant training records, and handling and storage of hazardous materials. Recording, tracking, and annotating all GSE at AUS. Working outside in the weather for prolong hours of the day. Update GSE registrations as airline tenants receive / remove GSE equipment. Closely work with Airline management to ensure all their equipment is serviceable and registered. Instructing airlines to remove their unserviceable equipment. Write reports on incidents as needed. Maintaining and up keeping the GSE database. Being knowledgeable in Airport Operations and how GSE parking affects operations.

Salary:

$27.77 - $33.95

DRIVING REQUIREMENT:

This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA.

This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL:

This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and, in some cases, when they are not scheduled.

CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK:

Top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10-year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

LANGUAGE:

Must have the ability to read, write, and fluently speak in English.

OVERTIME:

Overtime may be required with or without notice.

WORK HOURS:

Tuesday - Thursday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Hours may change depending on departmental needs. Work hours may include after-hours, holidays, and weekend work
