SEIU Hourly Rate: $33.35 (Step 76) to $43.60 (Step 99)

Starting hourly rate will be $ 33.35 /hour (Step 76) for external candidates

The Expeditor Clerk provides challenging and complex clerical and inventory control support to Shop Management, supervision, mechanics and technicians in a maintenance shop environment.

This is a specialist clerical class which requires both clerical skills to document and track the repair status of varied electronic, electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical components and equipment as well as skill in operating materials-handling equipment to move such components and other materials to appropriate work and storage areas throughout the District. This job class is distinguished from the general clerical classes in that the operation of a forklift and other materials handling equipment is required.


Selection Process
This is a SEIU Local 1021 Bargaining unit position. However, All SEIU members must follow the "Bid Form Process", failure to comply will invalidate an employee's application.

The selection process will include a screening for minimum qualifications as listed in this posting and may additionally involve a skills/performance test, written exam, and/or a panel interview. Outside applicants will not be considered until all employees who have applied have been considered first.

Failure to comply may invalidate the employee's bid. As actual vacancies occur, District employees on the internal eligibility list will be considered before outside candidates.

The Employment Office will screen Bid form applications and resumes against the minimum qualifications. Those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be referred to the hiring department for further consideration. Examples of Duties

Ensures that components received for in-house repair are accompanied by the proper documentation.

Completes necessary forms and/or logs and routes them to the proper repair area or work location.

Ensures that repaired equipment, parts, supplies and components being returned to active use have been inspected and have the proper documentation for tracking and reporting purposes.

Initiates warranty return and repair procedures, completing the appropriate forms and ensuring that the equipment or component is returned to the appropriate supplier.

Documents items to be repaired by outside vendors and arranges for their shipment.

Performs varied and responsible general clerical assistance related to the repair function.

Receives and screens telephone calls; provides factual information which may require the interpretation of policies and procedures and the use of tact and judgment.

Prepares and types correspondence, reports, forms and form letters, specifications, and specialized documents using a typewriter or word processor.

Proofreads and checks typed materials for accuracy, completeness and compliance with departmental policies.

Maintains and processes payroll records.

Establishes and maintains varied office files.

Researches materials from various sources and prepares periodic or special reports.

May use an on-line or personal computer and standard office software in the course of the work.

Uses materials handling equipment including a forklift to move and place various components and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
Possession of a high school diploma, GED or recognized equivalent.

Experience
The equivalent of three (3) years of full-time verifiable clerical experience. Inventory control or parts handling experience preferred. Experience in a shop setting is preferred.

Other Requirements
Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
Must possess sufficient strength and mobility to lift and move components weighing up to 120 pounds with proper equipment and to push carts weighing up to 1000 pounds.
Must operate varied materials handling equipment which could include a 4,000-pound capacity forklift.
