The Position

This recruitment is being conducted to fill one (1) full-time vacancy for the position of Animal Shelter Manager for the Napa County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center, which is a part of the Public Works Department at Napa County. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill futu re full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.

The Napa County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center's mission is to serve the community by providing a safe and healthy environment for our citizens and their animals while promoting animal welfare and education about responsible pet ownership. We offer many programs and services, such as pet adoptions, lost and found pets, pet surrenders, microchipping and licensing.

The Animal Shelter Manager is an at-will management position responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the operations and activities of the Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. This position provides leadership in all areas of shelter management, including humane animal care, shelter admissions, adoptions, and euthanasia procedures. Additionally, the Animal Shelter Manager supervises and develops shelter staff, ensures the safety, sanitation, and maintenance of the facility, prepares operational reports, and serves as the on-site spokesperson for the shelter. The position also represents Napa County in community outreach by educating the public on responsible pet ownership, and promoting compliance with County animal regulations and laws.

Position Requirements:
To qualify for the Animal Shelter Manager, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:
*Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

Disaster Service Workers
Napa County employees automatically become Disaster Service Workers.
