ABOUT THE POSITION AT THE VENTURA COUNTY AIR POLLUTION CONTROL DISTRICT
The APCD Administrative Services Director serves as a key member of Ventura County Air Pollution Control District’s leadership team, advancing a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged workplace that supports the District’s mission to protect public health and the environment. This position partners closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership to strengthen collaboration across divisions, enhance the employee experience, and ensure operational excellence. In this role, you will lead strategic and organizational initiatives that improve efficiency, transparency and effectiveness-conducting assessments, leveraging data to guide decision-making, and designing innovative development strategies. You will coach and mentor leaders at all levels to cultivate strong leadership capability and a culture of excellence, service, and accountability.

Additionally, you will have oversight of the departmental fiscal and administrative services and information technology units consisting of two (2) managers and ten (10) staff members. You will provide supervision, set clear expectations, and promote continuous learning and improvement. The position also leads the development and delivery of presentations to diverse audiences and ensures mandatory training programs and performance evaluations are successfully executed.

The APCD Administrative Services Director is an At-Will classification that is exempt from the provision of the Civil Service Ordinance.

After evaluating the candidates’ resume materials, the most qualified candidates will be invited to a panel interview soon after the first review date. The top candidates, as determined by the panel, will then be invited to subsequent interviews with the hiring authority. The interviews may be consolidated into one process or expanded into multiple interviews, contingent upon the size and quality of the candidate pool. Any final candidate selected shall require the concurrence of the Air Pollution Control Board.
