Annual Salary Range: $81,755 - $108,995

FLSA Non-Exempt / Union Represented

This position allows for up to four days of remote work per week. Weeks leading up to the exam may require you to come into the office more frequently.

Job Summary

The Office of Admissions seeks a proactive, analytical, solutions-oriented professional to join our team as a Program Coordinator within the Exam Administration Unit, who oversees the planning, coordination, and administration of the California Bar Examination and other State Bar-administered exams. This position will support the coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of large-scale exam operations. The Program Coordinator will assist the Program Manager and Program Supervisor in preparing exam-related materials, such as forms and instructions, and training materials; assist with exam-related logistics; and respond to applicant inquiries. The Program Coordinator may also serve as a Committee Coordinator for sub entities of the Committee of Bar Examiners. A strong ability to adhere to policies and procedures and apply them accurately is essential.

In addition to core responsibilities, all staff in the Office of Admissions are assigned to administer the California Bar Examination and the First-Year Law Students' Examination, which may require overnight travel up to four times a year. The role demands a proactive and organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, maintains a high standard of accuracy in their work, and consistently resolves issues with clarity and confidence. Success in this role requires the ideal candidate to demonstrate sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and have exceptional organizational skills, all while approaching challenges with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, is critical, as the role involves frequent interaction with applicants, colleagues, and external parties. Experience utilizing Salesforce for case processing and reporting is essential to the position. Prior experience with large-scale event coordination may also be beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft suite is also a plus.

Under general direction, the Program Coordinator performs professional administrative coordination and development of activities supporting assigned State Bar programs.

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Program Coordinator classification is distinguished from the higher-level Program Analyst in that the Program Coordinator is focused on administrative coordination. In contrast, the Program Analyst is the professional class providing analytical expertise regarding programmatic or functional systems and procedures. It exercises a higher degree of independent judgment and performs more complex work.

Education:

High school diploma; college degree preferred or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the position's duties.

Experience:

One (1) year of progressive experience in administrative or program-related work.

Applicants who meet the Minimum Qualifications will be required to successfully complete the State Bar's selection process for this classification.
