Description
The Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter is looking to hire an Animal Services Manager. The Animal Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of animal control and shelter. The manager manages staff and volunteers, maintains facilities and equipment, interacts with the public and ensures that shelter animals receive proper care. Additionally, the Animal Services Manager may be responsible for fostering good community relations. The Animal Services Manager is responsible for assisting with planning and securing the ongoing stability of the Weatherford Animal Shelter by building and managing the financial, operating, and administrative systems infrastructure. The incumbent, with the Director of Animal Services, sets goals, monitors work and evaluates results to ensure the shelter’s objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and missions of the Weatherford Animal Shelter.
Roles & Responsibilities Include: - Develops, implements, and monitors programs to maintain and improve the standards of humane animal care and customer services to the animals and the community.
- Ensures quality of programs and services are in accordance with the City of Weatherford’s and the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter’s procedure and philosophy.
- Directs and supervises all functions of the Weatherford Animal Shelter, including but not limited to Animal Care Specialists, Animal Care Technicians, City Animal Control Officers, Veterinary Medical Team, and volunteers in the performance of their responsibilities.
- Directs and monitors all aspects of the constant humane treatment and handling of sheltered animals. Monitors the maintenance, cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, animal care and overall health, and customer service areas.
- Assists in the development of an annual budget for operational divisional activities and ensures that it is adhered to, as well as reviews financial reports as well as maintains department monthly and yearly statistics.
Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study AND a minimum of four years management experience, including budgetary and staff supervision, in animal shelter, humane society, or similar field, preferably in a municipal shelter. Previous experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree where appropriate. • Must have or obtain Basic Animal Control Certification issued by the Texas Department of Health within six (6) months of employment. • Must have or obtain Euthanasia Certification issued by the Texas Department of Health within six (6) months of employment. • Due to the nature of the position, criminal history must be clear. • Must have a valid Class C Texas Driver’s License.
