The City of Fort Worth Library department is seeking an Office Assistant for the Collection Development team. The Office Assistant will be assigned to Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This team member will be that staff member primarily responsible for ILL, including troubleshooting patron issues, communicating with lending libraries, and processing incoming and outgoing ILL items. For a more complete job description, please see job responsibilities below. This position is located at the Library's Operations Center at 8628 Camp Bowie West. Your contributions will help create a positive experience for our team and our patrons who utilize this valuable service and your contribution will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of library services.
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma/GED
- Two years of responsible clerical experience
Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience in a library or bookstore environment is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in basic computer applications
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
The Office Assistant's job responsibilities include: - Processing Interlibrary Loan materials in the statewide ILL system ShareIT and the library's ILS Polaris
- Preparing and packaging library materials for shipment to other libraries for lending, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
- Interacting with patrons via phone and email to provide updates on their requests and to troubleshoot issues.
- Interacting with other library staff about ILL items and non-Fort Worth Public Library items that are mistakenly returned to our locations.
- Creating and managing invoices for materials loaned to other libraries that have been lost and/or damaged by their patrons, working with the Library's purchasing unit to ensure City policies are followed
- Verifying invoices for materials Fort Worth patrons have lost/damaged and update patron accounts with the charges.
- Maintaining inventory for shipping materials.
- Recording and reporting statistics of how many items are shipped and received through the courier service.
- Assisting other collection development and technical services staff as needed.
- Contributing to the overall efficiency of library operations through collaboration and communication with team members
- Receive and distribute USPS mail at the OPS center
