The Position

Bargaining Unit: Local 1021 - Social Services First Line Supervisors Unit

The Employment and Human Services Department is currently accepting applications to fill one (1) vacancy for the Social Work Supervisor I position.

The Social Work Supervisor I plans, assigns, and directs the work of social workers and technical support staff who are engaged in providing social casework services such as complex adult protective services cases, conservatorship, adoptions, care management for frail elders and adults with disabilities, foster home and institutional placements, and children's protective services. They oversee child safety and meet legal mandates, perform complex case consultations, ensure corrective action procedures are developed and implemented, and provide instruction on policies and procedures concerning eligibility for and delivery of public social services.

Minimum Qualifications

License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's License. Out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social welfare, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent social casework experience in a public or private human services agency responsible for providing social services to adult, family and/or children.

Substitution:
One (1) year of additional full-time or its equivalent experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required academic major. No substitution is allowed for the Bachelor’s degree.

Selection Process

Application Filing and Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. Training and Experience Questionnaire: Candidates will be required to complete a training and experience questionnaire at the time of filing. The responses to the training and experience questions on the supplemental questionnaire will be used to evaluate candidates' relevant education, training and/or experience as it relates to the Social Work Supervisor I classification. DISASTER SERVICE WORKER

All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
