This recruitment is being held to establish an open eligible list to fill current Assistant County Librarian (Library Deputy Director) positions within the OC Public Libraries branches, a division of OC Community Resources (OCCR). This recruitment may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower-level classifications.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Under the general direction of the County Librarian, the Assistant County Librarian provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality library services across OC Public Libraries. This position oversees daily operations, supports systemwide initiatives, and ensures alignment with County priorities, mission, and values.

The Assistant County Librarian plays a key role in managing operations, optimizing resources, and fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture throughout the organization. This position acts as the County Librarian during absences or as designated.

A panel of job knowledge experts will thoroughly screen and evaluate the application and supplemental questions for job knowledge, competencies, and related experience described above.

Eligible List
Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
