Job Description:

Purpose:

Under minimal direction, coordinates interdepartmental and interagency environmental and/or conservation programs or projects, serves as a liaison for interdepartmental and interagency environmental/conservation issues, and coordinates and supports the environmental/conservation activities of a division/section for various projects and programs.

Salary Range: $ 67,038.40 (min) - $83,803.20 (mid) Annual

LOCATION:

DAYS AND HOURS:

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday with the ability for a telework schedule per week after initial training period. Exceptions may apply subject to the business needs of the department.

May require working outside of normal business hours, including emergency events, evenings, weekends and holidays as dictated by business needs.

What does the Watershed Protection Department do?

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position provides data management and mapping support to the Green Infrastructure Division in Watershed Protection's Operations group. The ideal candidate will have a background in natural systems management with demonstrated experience in GIS and data organization.

Tasks include maintaining and editing existing datasets related to land management activities, facilitating new projects to assist with digitizing and managing assets, assist with map making needs for internal and external customers, QAQC and updating ongoing projects, and providing general support as needed. This position will also help with field verification of assets and data collection in the field to support the team with monitoring and reporting on land management activities.

This position will manage a green workforce development contract, and carry out related tasks such as coordinating project schedules, developing and implementing curriculum and experiences for contract participants, overseeing contractor performance, ensuring compliance with deliverables and maintaining all related contract documentation. This position will collaborate with diverse partners to advance equity and inclusion in the green workforce, creating pathways for underrepresented communities to enter and thrive in the field.

ESSENTIAL STATUS:

This position has been designated as an Essential Employee position. In the event of a city-designated extraordinary situation or emergency condition, essential employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees, as well as ensure the continuity of essential operations. Essential Employees may be called back in during such events, required to modify their schedule, assigned to a City-designated work site, or retained on-site to assist with operations and recovery.

TRAVEL:
If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
