THE CITY

Culver City is a Charter City incorporated in 1917, and is a destination filled with outdoor cafes, unique shops and galleries opening onto pedestrian-friendly boulevards. Culver City has a dedicated staff of approximately 800+employees with an over all operating budget of over 368 million. The City provides a full range of municipal services including its own Fire, Police, Community Development, Public Works, Parks, Recreation, Community Services, and Transportation system.

The positions assigned to this classification are responsible for enforcing housing, zoning, land use, business license, and public nuisance provisions of the Municipal Code and other regulatory codes. The following tasks are essential for this position. Incumbents in this classification may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed here. Training and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be: high school graduation or equivalent, and two (2) years of work experience in a related field such as code or rule enforcement.

Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license. Possession of P.C. 832 P.O.S.T. certification within one year of date of hire into classification. Possession of Code Enforcement Officer Certification from California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO) is desirable.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES

Applicants must receive a passing score on all examination components for placement on the eligible list.


Selection Process: The selection process will include the following to determine suitability for the position:
Selection Interview with the Housing Department, Background and Reference check, including Live Scan fingerprinting, Medical Examination; candidates must pass a pre-placement medical examination, which will include a drug screen. A positive pre-placement drug test, refusal or failure to test may result in rejection of the candidate.
