Description

Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the work of the Engineering Division; coordinates the work of the division with that of other departments; supervises, reviews, and performs highly complex engineering work; and performs other work as required.

Representative Duties

The following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of the position's essential duties. They are descriptive, not limiting. Essential Duties: Supervises engineers and technicians in the design and preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates in connection with the construction or maintenance of engineering projects; Works on the more difficult engineering designs, plans, and profiles; writes specifications for unique and special parts of work being performed; Designs and supervises a wide variety of projects related to municipal improvements; Participates in studies for the development of capital improvement program projects; Prepares budget proposals for the five-year capital improvement program; Reviews alternative subdivision proposals and development proposals prior to submitting them to the Planning Commission for approval; Assists in the preparation of City traffic studies relating to problem intersections and segments of roadway, reviews proposals for annexation to the City; Supervises personnel in the preparation of layouts, designs, and plans for a variety of public works projects.

Minimum Qualifications
