Position DescriptionEmployees in this classification are responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities in an assigned correctional facility. They function within their legal scope of practice and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization and practice setting. Work is performed under the direction of a registered nurse as part of a total correctional managed health care team in providing safe and competent care to patients.
Major/Essential FunctionsThe working hours for this shift are 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Four days on/four days off)
- Administer or assist with the administration and documentation of medications.
- Will assist with chain in medication orders and medication renewals.
- Assists with and performs focal assessments and assist with procedures documenting the assessments and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Will process sick calls in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Will conduct nurse clinic and assist with the provider clinic.
In addition to the base position compensation, we offer shift differential pay for night and weekend shifts:
Licensed Vocational Nurse Differential:
- Day Shift Employees: Earn an extra $3.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.
- Night Shift Employees:
- Earn an extra $3.00 per hour for shifts worked Monday through Friday.
- Earn an extra $6.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.
Required Qualifications- Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position.
- Current CPR certification.
- Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX- PN) on the first attempt.
- No experience required.
