Job Description:

WIC Nutritionist Senior

Purpose:

Under general supervision, serve as a lead professional to provide the delivery of health nutrition services for designated clinic with small cliental population.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:

May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training and guidance to others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

• Knowledge of lead techniques and principles.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, City, and local policies and regulations that pertain to WIC services.
• Knowledge of principles and practice of nutrition, breastfeeding physiology, anatomy, and counseling and training techniques.
• Knowledge of public health programs, social services and client needs.
• Skill in providing nutrition and breastfeeding education and excellent customer service and support.
• Skill in handling multiple tasks, organizing and prioritizing.
• Skill in using computers and related software applications.
• Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations.
• Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to train others.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas, effectively, clearly and concisely with others.
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds; managers, co-workers, and members of the public and professional groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Food and Nutrition plus two (2) years of experience in a field related to Nutrition or Dietetics.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Valid Class C Texas driver’s license.
• Completion of all required WIC modules during the probationary period.

Position Overview:

The WIC Nutritionist Senior will administer lead responsibilities for the day-to-day activities in the WIC clinic. This includes but is not limited to acting as a liaison between the clinic and the program manager, including notifying them about staffing, supply and equipment needs. Handling incident and accident reporting and resolving on-site customer service issues. Assisting management with the implementation of internal processes and changes. Assessing clients' income and nutritional needs to determine their eligibility for the WIC program.
