We are seeking a passionate and strategic Veteran Recruitment Consultant to lead and execute efforts for recruiting transitioning service members and veterans into our Veteran Transition Career Internship Program.

This role is responsible for identifying and engaging veteran talent, managing military-focused recruitment events, providing direct support to candidates, and cultivating external partnerships to build a robust and sustainable talent pipeline.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of military-to-civilian career pathways, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to build relationships with both candidates and community, and internal city stakeholders.

Job Description:

Under general direction in the Human Resources Department, this position coordinates activities related to hiring and supporting City employee Veterans. This position is responsible for managing and organizing City-wide veteran initiatives in compliance with Local, State, and Federal legislation related to veteran employment and employee services.

The City of Austin is seeking a Veteran Services Consultant to lead and expand initiatives that support the recruitment, hiring, and retention of veterans within the City workforce. This role plays a vital part in building a veteran-inclusive culture by connecting transitioning service members and veterans with meaningful career opportunities and ensuring their successful integration into civilian employment.

Salary Range: $71,630 - $90,980 (Midpoint)

Days and Hours:

Monday - Friday.
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Hours may vary due to operational needs. An alternative schedule and remote work/teleworking options are available, but position requires a minimum of 40% per week in office standard after initial probationary period.

Driving Requirement:

This position requires a Valid Texas Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
