Description

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, operate and maintain ceramics laboratory, kiln and materials; demonstrate proper use and technique for the ceramic arts program; work with participants in the ceramics art program and; perform related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Training and Experience: Two years of experience working and training in a ceramics studio is required. Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in ceramics preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires knowledge of recreation programs and activities, facilities, equipment safety and use, and program planning; skill in operating specific department tools and equipment; knowledge of and adherence to safety protocols and best practices; effective communication skills, both verbal and written; and the ability to plan, organize, and implement recreation events; work effectively with senior citizens and children; prepare written reports; conduct recreation program activities; provide staff leadership; follow oral and written instructions; and work effectively with others.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

May be required to work shifts, weekends, or holidays.

Part-time employees are enrolled in PARS (Public Alternate Retirement System). All part-time and seasonal employees contribute 7.5% each pay period on a pre-tax basis. If an employee reaches 1,000 hours within a fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) or is already a CalPERS member, then they are enrolled in CalPERS (Public Employees Retirement System).

The City complies with California Labor Code 245-249 by providing paid sick leave for part-time hourly employees accordingly.

The City of Manhattan Beach does not provide medical/dental/vision benefits to part-time employees. Eligible employees enrolled in CalPERS may opt into a CalPERS medical plan.

Salary:

$19.39 - $23.57 Hourly
