Description
RequirementsMOS Code: NoneEducation and Experience : A High School diploma, GED or higher, and one (1) year of general office or clerical experience or library related experience.
Licenses and Certificates : None. Must be approved by the Department of State and must obtain passport certification within one (1) month of appointment by attending training on procedures and practices as detailed in the current Passport Agent's Reference Guide.
In addition, applicants for this position must also meet the requirements outlined by the Department of State:
- Must be at least 18 years old,
- A United States citizen or U.S. national,
- Not presently under indictment, parole, or probation related to any Federal, State or local felony or misdemeanor related to breach of trust or moral turpitude (i.e. drug offense, embezzlement, document fraud, or dishonesty carrying out a responsibility involving public trust),
- Free of any Federal, State, or local felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions related to breach of trust or moral turpitude.
General PurposeUnder general supervision, serve as an Acceptance Agent for the City of El Paso Passport Agency Services and perform a variety of library related duties.
Typical DutiesServe as an Acceptance Agent for the City of El Paso Passport Services. Involves: Process passports by assisting customers in applying for a U.S. passport to include taking required photos and reviewing applications and documents to support the passport process. Uphold legal responsibilities as an Acceptance Agent; verify that the passport applicant who personally appears and the identification and citizenship evidence presented are one-in-the-same; that the applicant took the oath and signed the application. Ensure highest level of confidentiality.
The Passport Agent will be required to perform other Library related assignments to include assisting the Circulation Desk when required. Involves: Provide quality and seamless customer service by providing service and assistance to library users. Assist the public in the use of library equipment, facilities, materials, and services. Assist patrons utilizing the computer catalog, copy machines, or to find books or materials. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
