Job Description:

Purpose:

Under general supervision, safely transports passengers inside and outside the city limits to Activity Centers, appointments, and special events, including both one-day field trips and overnight out of town trips.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.


Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus one (1) year of work experience, six (6) months of which were spend operating vehicles to transport passengers, or equipment.

Combination of equivalent Experience and Education may substitute for the minimum qualifications.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Current Texas Motor Vehicle Operator License appropriate for vehicle(s) operated.

Temporary Shuttle Driver Position to Transport Fleet Vehicles and Parts: This is a temporary position that will transport vehicles and parts to Fleet Service Center locations, other City facilities and vendors inside and outside city limits as well as refueling vehicles when needed, assist with cleaning shops areas, yard count and managing tool inventory on service trucks. This position requires a current Texas Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date.

LOCATION:

Fleet Mobility Services maintains various services centers located within Austin, TX. The role may be assigned to different locations.

DAYS AND HOURS:

Monday - Friday

6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Hours may vary depending upon work demands and customer support needs. The schedule for this position is subject to change based on business and operational needs. Shifts may vary and can include day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday hours. Occasional evening, weekend, holiday work may also be required.

PAY RANGE:

$22.05 - $24.26

This has been designated as an Essential Employee position. In the event of a City-designated emergency, Essential Employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees and ensure the continuity of essential operations. In such an emergency, Essential Employees may be called back in, may be required to modify their schedule, may be assigned to a City-designated work site, or may be retained on site to assist with operations and recovery.

Driving Requirement:

This position requires a c urrent Texas Motor Vehicle Operator License appropriate for vehicle(s) operated or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
