About our opportunity

York County Fire Services is seeking a visionary, experienced leader to serve as its full-time (40 hour/weekly) Fire Training & Safety Officer II. This is a foundational position responsible for building and leading a countywide fire training and safety program that supports both volunteer and career fire departments. The successful candidate will bring a proven history of designing and implementing comprehensive training systems, fostering buy-in across diverse organizations, and elevating operational safety and readiness. This position requires a leader with the vision to see what the County’s fire service can become—and the drive to build it. The purpose of this position is to lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of training and safety programs for all York County fire departments. This position plays a critical role in advancing operational readiness and firefighter safety through direct observation of fireground activities, post-incident analysis, and alignment of training initiatives with departmental needs. The Fire Training & Safety Officer also serves as the County’s primary safety officer for fire services and provides leadership in health and safety-related policy, training, and investigations.

Our ideal candidate would possess the following:

Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 117: $27.33 - $32.80 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications.
