ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Real Property Management Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Rural Parks Maintenance Worker I/II position. This position performs maintenance and repair of County parks, playing fields, campsites, and other landscaped recreational areas located in rural areas of Clark County. The ideal candidate will work in rural Southern Clark County, including the Laughlin, Logandale, and Searchlight areas, and will be able to work independently with a strong background in landscape and parks maintenance.

Rural Park Maintenance Worker I: $22.33 - $32.96 Hourly Rural Park Maintenance Worker II: $24.14 - $35.62 Hourly

The Rural Park Maintenance Worker I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Rural Park Maintenance Worker II.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:


Rural Park Maintenance Worker I - Equivalent to graduation from high school, AND two (2) years of full-time park or landscape maintenance experience. Some college level education in horticulture, recreation or a field related to the work is desirable.

Rural Park Maintenance Worker II - In addition to the above, one (1) year of full-time experience maintaining parks in a rural setting.

Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations and work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. Work with exposure to potentially hazardous herbicides and pesticides. Work with exposure to animals, insects and/or noxious plants.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Strength and mobility to work in a typical park maintenance setting, including operating hand and power tools; stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing, walking, climbing and working in confined or awkward spaces; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone.
