Description
OVERVIEWKitsap County is seeking an extra help Logistics Operations Program Technician to support the critical work of the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management (KCDEM). This role plays a key part in ensuring emergency response assets, equipment, and resources are organized, accessible, and ready for deployment when the community needs them most.
As an extra help Logistics Program Technician, you will support the operational backbone of KCDEM, maintaining warehouse readiness, managing deployable assets, and supporting logistical coordination during emergencies and EOC activations. Your work directly enables effective disaster response, training, and outreach efforts, making a tangible difference in community safety and resilience.

As the
Logistics Program Technician, you will:
- Ensure all KCDEM deployable assets, rolling stock, inventory, and “small and attractive” items are clearly labeled, properly tracked, and readily accessible for rapid deployment.
- Support and maintain KCDEM’s asset and inventory management program, including regular physical counts and accurate updates to the inventory management system.
- Assist with logistical support during emergencies and EOC activations, ensuring supplies and equipment are deployed and recovered using established asset management processes.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for asset-related issues, supporting staff and stakeholders with inventory and equipment needs.
- Develop proficiency in the 213RR resource request process, supporting both internal resource requests and requests to State Emergency Management.
- Inspect and maintain warehouse facilities and grounds, identifying safety hazards, coordinating routine maintenance, and submitting work orders for facility or equipment repairs as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment through regular housekeeping and debris removal.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and industry standards related to warehouse and logistics operations.
What you bring:
- Professional Experience: Associates degree a closely related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education and one year of experience in logistics, warehouse operations, asset management, or closely related field. Equivalent combination of related experience and related education demonstrating required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
- Specialized Experience: Experience with inventory management systems, asset tracking, and physical inventory control. Ability to learn and apply emergency management resource request processes, including 213RR.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams and external partners in both routine and emergency settings.
- Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Logistics, Warehouse, or Emergency Management Certification
- Experience in a government, public safety, or emergency management environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in an operational setting
- Demonstrated experience providing logistical support to emergency incidents.
- Proficiency in computer applications and software, including asset management systems, inventory tracking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite or similar platforms.
