Description
Overview
Under supervision of the Managing Librarian and/or shift supervisor (Library Assistant), checks in library materials returned at circulation desk, book drop, and transfer items between locations. Loads book carts from sorting shelves and returns to public access shelves. Checks Shelved materials for order and proper location, re-shelving if necessary. Assist at the public service desk with patron checkouts, telephone assistance, renewals, and general library assistance when necessary.
Responsibilities
• Checks in library materials returned at circulation desk and outside book drop.
• Sorts and sanitizes materials, prepares materials for return to shelves in alphabetical or numerical order, loads book carts, and shelves all types and formats of library materials.
• Checks shelved material for order and proper location daily. Reshelving if necessary. Performed independently from shelving materials.
• Prior to opening, prepare building for business by cleaning computers, unlocking internal doors.
• Prior to closing, library materials are gathered, gate count is recorded, helps to secure building
• Library materials are scanned and prepared for re-shelving the following day
• Arrange and straighten furniture at closing
• Occasionally assist Library Assistant at the public service desk and conduct inventory control
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

• Non-Exempt - Part-Time• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Minimum Qualifications
• Less than high school education
• No prior experience required

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
