PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS:

Wildlife Region 2, Kerr Wildlife Management Area, 2625 FM 1340 Hunt, TX 78024

The position will be based in the Kerr Wildlife Management Area and have work assignments on Kerr Wildlife Management Area with occasional assistance at Mason Mountain Wildlife Management Area.





GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

Under the direct supervision of the Wildlife Biologist or Lead Technician, the Intern is responsible for assisting Kerr WMA staff members with aspects of daily operations associated with wildlife management, maintenance and research activities. Internship will include assisting with surveys; baseline inventory assistance; public outreach assistance ; fence maintenance; animal control operations; data entry; mechanical brush control and other various maintenance and construction activities.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university or recent graduate with a bachelor's degree or higher within the last 6 months.

Minimum of 18 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university at time of application.

Must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale or "Pass" on a Pass/Fail system.

Experience :

None required.

Licensure :

Must possess a valid state driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of office practices or administrative procedures.

Knowledge of practices and policies in purchasing.

Knowledge of accounting/accountability of revenue collection.

Skill in use of standard office equipment and software.

Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams and Adobe products.

Skill in managing several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to interpret and apply agency policies and procedures.

Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of administrative systems or procedures.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in dealing with matters of significant consequences.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Internship duration and work week schedule to be mutually determined by supervisor and intern.

Required to work overtime as necessary.

Required to work 40 hours per week, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

May be required to travel 5% of the time with possible overnight stays.

Required to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 15 lbs.

Required to conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.

Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
