TPWD MISSION To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Marine Enhancement internship positions will, under the supervision of the Hatchery Manager, be responsible for fish hatchery stock enhancement. Assists Hatchery staff in the propagation and distribution of marine finfish throughout the coastal waters of Texas. Duties include collecting, tabulating, and entry of hatchery records. fish culture operations. and stock enhancement program work. Operates equipment safely under close supervision and maintains gear, equipment, and facility. NOTE: As students, paid work experience reflected on your application may be limited. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES : % of Time Essential Job Duties by Category 5 0% Assists in the propagation and distribution of marine finfish throughout the coastal waters of Texas. Marginal Job Duties:
Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with Agency, Division and Department rules, regulations, and procedures.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education :
Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university or recent graduate with a bachelor's degree or higher within the last 6 months.
Minimum of 18 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university at time of application.
Must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale or "Pass" on a Pass/Fail system.
Experience :
None required.
Licensure :
Must possess a valid state driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education :
Currently in pursuit of a degree relevant to the position; examples are majors in Mariculture/Aquaculture, Marine Biology/Marine Science, Fisheries Biology, Wildlife and Fisheries Science, Oceanography, or Natural Resource Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Skill in using personal computers.

WORKING CONDITIONS Internship duration and work week schedule to be mutually determined by supervisor and intern.
Required to work overtime as necessary.
Required to work 40 hours per week, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Required to adjust to changing schedules.
May required to travel 5% of the time with possible overnight stays.
Required to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 15 lbs.
Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
Required to perform work with proper safety precautions and equipment in enclosed spaces, heights, noise, dust and fumes.
Required to conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.
