Division: Vehicles for Hire
Reporting Location: 1002 Washington Ave
Workdays & Hours: M-F, 8 A.M.-5 P.M.**Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform safety and compliance inspections of vehicles-for-hire. Verifies, updates and inputs vehicle inspections into proper database. Conducts field compliance enforcement for vehicle-for-hire operators. Issues citations to operators in violation of vehicle-for-hire code of ordinances. Testify in court against violators of city ordinances. Will be required to drive on city business. Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS Position is physically comfortable. Must be available to work weekends and evenings. Will be working outdoors on many days.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One (1) year of work experience in document research, investigations, or a closely related field is required.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS A valid Texas Driver’s License and complies with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
PREFERENCESStrong verbal and written communication skills. Experience in a regulatory or law enforcement environment.
Must be available to work occasional weekends and evenings.
