Pay Range: $34.45 - $44.79/hr. | $71,661 - $93,159 annual compensation

A Code Compliance Supervisor job is available within the City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Department, Code Enforcement Division. The Division operates through two primary areas: Neighborhood Investigations and the Building Standards Division. The successful candidate will oversee the investigation of citizen complaints and the enforcement of municipal ordinances, including minimum building standards, the multifamily inspection and registration program, boarding home regulations, and zoning codes.
Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in one or more of the following fields: animal control, code compliance or enforcement, health inspections, public health or building/construction trades
- Four (4) years of responsible experience in one or more of the following disciplines: animal control, code compliance (direct code enforcement through field inspection), building or construction trades, zoning or health inspections
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, utilizing Word, Excel and other computer related tasks.
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Possession of a State of Texas Code Enforcement Officer Certificate is required
Preferred Qualifications: - Candidates with higher education levels
- Two years or more of administrative and supervisory experience
- Experience working with field investigations or commercial properties
- Ability to speak, write, and understand Spanish
- Customer service experience handling escalated customer complaints
- Expert in zoning compliance and inspections
- Dispute resolution experience
- Public presentation experience
- Experience working within a "team concept" work environment
- Experience achieving established quantitative benchmarks
The Code Compliance Supervisor job responsibilities include: - Supervises, including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring training and policy compliance, maintaining a safe work environment, and making hiring, disciplinary, and termination recommendations or decisions
- Responds to inquiries and complaints from residents, neighborhood associations, and internal/external customers; collaborates with other departments and supports local, state, and federal enforcement agencies to ensure effective service delivery.
- Develops and implements programs and process improvements to enhance departmental efficiency and effectiveness, including educational training programs and creates documents for external dissemination to promote compliance with city and state regulations
- Serves as liaison to city commissions, associations, and organizations, and prepares analytical reports, case submissions, and program evaluations for senior management reviews
- Conducts accident investigations and ensures employee and public safety, adhering to established Human Resources policies and procedures
- Oversee departmental equipment and assets, including training, preventative maintenance, repair tracking, research, and ensuring safe and proper use
- Assists with division budget development and oversight, monitoring expenditures and maintaining fiscal accountability
- Prepares and testifies in complex local, state, and federal court cases, and ensures compliance with City attendance policies, personnel rules, and other assigned duties
Working Conditions and Physical Demands Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust,poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.
When assigned to Code Enforcement: Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
