The City of Fort Worth Water Department has a Water Systems Supervisor job in the Meter Services Section. This is a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and quick response to internal and external customer inquiries. Oversees the daily field activities related to installing, replacing, repairing and reading water meters and all associated devices.
This Water Systems Supervisor position leads the team responsible for customer investigations, maintenance, new development, revenue recovery, surveying, delinquency, and large meter exchange/testing. The City of Fort Worth is growing at a fast pace, and this will be an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a challenging and rewarding career. The regular work schedule is Monday - Friday; however, the candidate must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays with possibly no advance notice as needed. The individual will also be required to be on call.
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training related to assigned operation
- A minimum of five years of relevant work experience
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass the City of Fort Worth Human Performance Evaluation
- Must be able to work on call, after hours, weekend and holidays, and report to work during all weather conditions
- Possession of a TCEQ Class C Water Distribution Operator license
Preferred Qualifications: - Project/Contract Management Experience
- Experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Familiar with billing software such as AS400-Cisco and asset management and work order software, Maximo or other
- Previous experience with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), either electrical, water or gas utility
- RF/Wireless Technology, Sensus FlexNet and Harris Meter Data Management System (MDMS)
- Bilingual/Spanish
The Water Systems Supervisor job responsibilities include: - Supervise staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; encouraging and recognizing employees; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations
- Develop and document training, policies, and procedures
- Supervise all aspects of meter inventory control processes
- Oversee all field activity using work order data and reports
- Respond to and resolve complex and escalated customer inquiries, including internal customers, and address emergencies and after-hours customer issues while providing exceptional customer service
- Interpret billing and delinquency policies to staff and customers
- Promote, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with internal city departments and employees, management, contractors, utilities, and the general public.
- Manage special projects, contracts, and contractors
- Generate daily and monthly reports, analyze data and statistics, and utilize data for day-to-day operations, including decision-making
- Develop and implement best practices to improve operational efficiency
- Research new industry processes and equipment for potential implementation. Collaborate with others to research trends, data, and other records to gain knowledge of equipment and machinery and inspect and investigate problem areas within the system for possible remedies
- Monitor and track individual driver safety training and vehicle usage, handle accident reporting, fuel usage, maintenance and repair costs, and obtain the necessary services
- Review monthly reports on vehicle expenditures and verify the information, reconciling as necessary
