ABOUT THE POSITION

The Road to Recovery (R2R) Program is Marin’s County operated substance use treatment program providing services to adults (18+) with complex co-occurring Substance Use Disorders and Serious Mental Illness. Road to Recovery is Drug Medi-Cal and Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Certified to provide Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient, and Recovery Support services to clients. Specific services include assessment, individual and group counseling, relapse prevention, care coordination and referrals to other clinically indicated treatment such as Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT).

Road to Recovery is located at 3270 Kerner Blvd, San Rafael and serves Marin Medi-Cal beneficiaries and Marin low-income uninsured individuals.

There is currently one full-time position available in the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services at Road to Recovery.

Under direction of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Unit Supervisor, the Social Service Worker I (SSWI) is responsible for performing comprehensive substance use screening, assessment, individual and group counseling and recovery support services, as well as coordinating care with other partners to provide a comprehensive and holistic treatment experience for clients. The position will be providing substance use treatment, care coordination and recovery support services in the County-operated Road to Recovery Program, which is Drug/Medi-Cal and AOD certified to provide Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient substance use treatment services for individuals with complex co-occurring Substance Use Disorders and Serious Mental Illness. As such, candidates are required to hold a current AOD counselor certification from a California approved certifying body and/or an appropriate clinical license /license eligible.

Our Highly Qualified Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Social Service Worker I position has experience in providing substance use services for individuals with complex co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders including utilizing Evidence Based Practices (EBPs), trauma-informed perspectives and interventions, validated curriculum approaches, group facilitation skills, and the ability to provide effective individualized services to clients. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the ASAM criteria and will utilize their clinical skills and training to develop rapport and therapeutic alliance with clients to maintain engagement in services and improve recovery related outcomes. The ideal candidate possesses effective psycho-social and clinical evaluation and treatment skills necessary for group and individual counseling, in addition to effective verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, curiosity and interest in learning new treatment skills, excellent time management and computer skills, demonstrates flexibility, and can work in a small, collaborative team. The ideal candidate is required to have a current AOD counselor certification from an approved certifying body and/or an appropriate clinical license/license eligible.
