Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.*
* Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In this position, you will work as part of a customer service team providing support to internal and external customers. Responsibilities will include working closely with managers, supervisors, senior inspectors, outside agencies, and the public to resolve concerns and inquiries, as they relate to Distribution System Maintenance and Operations. Utilize INFOR to research, create, update and close service requests and work orders. Coordinate section activities; providing support and problem-solving resolutions on day-to-day issues. Organize and schedule resources to meet production requirements. Conduct research on special management requests. Direct and interpret the research and analysis of customers' problems and inquiries. Act as liaison to various service lines within the department. Compile, maintain, and monitor various reports and records. Scanning of section documents and maintaining electronic and hard copies of files. Draft correspondence: proof/edit documents for accuracy, content, and format. Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking standing, etc.
This is a Department of Public Works and Engineering Emergency Management Position at the Tier III Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires a high school diploma or a GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Three (3) years of administrative or customer service-related experience are required.
Substitutions: Associate’s degree may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience. Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the years of experience.

PREFERENCESPreference will be given to applicants who:- Perform at an advanced level in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are proficient in INFOR IPS or a work order tracking system
- Has a valid Texas Driver License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
- Handle multiple assignments simultaneously, are detail-oriented, and committed to quality work.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including phone & email etiquette
- Exhibit strong attention to detail, initiative and resourcefulness.
- Adept with compiling data for reports.
