We are the largest Department in the County, with over 80 staff. Our agency works with Colusa County residents in administering social services programs, including Cal Works, Cal-Fresh, Medi-Cal, In-home Supportive Services (IHSS), Adult and Children’s Services, Public Health, and Housing. We have a strong leadership team that provides ongoing support for daily operations and assists our employees in reaching their full potential HERE .

What's this Job All About?
The Public Health Assistant supports county health department programs by assisting with community outreach, data collection, client services, and administrative tasks. This role helps implement public health initiatives such as immunizations, disease prevention, maternal and child health services, and emergency preparedness activities. Responsibilities include collecting and entering health data, maintaining confidential records, assisting with case investigations and follow-up, supporting vaccination events, responding to public inquiries, and coordinating with community partners.

Supervision & Examples of Duties

Receives general supervision from supervisory or management staff.

Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:
Equivalent to three years of public health, medical office, or related experience.

Training:
Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade.

Supplemental Information

The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
