The Houston Information Technology Services (HITS) Department provides enterprise IT services for the City of Houston. These services include voice and network, cyber-security, email and communication platforms and shared enterprise applications that are used by all City employees.

Senior IT Project Manager positions that will be responsible for managing complex and high visibility IT projects. The Project Management Office (PMO) collaborates on HITS Strategy, provides project management engagement services and supports the Mayor’s Office mission by managing and coordinating the delivery of solutions to support the City of Houston and HITS Technology Strategic Plans. The Senior IT Project Manager - PMO will lead project efforts utilizing Agile and Waterfall methodology to ensure the project scope, budget and timeliness are executed according to project plan schedule and manage stakeholder expectations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Technology Project Management, Management and Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science or a closely related field.

Greater than ten (10) years of directly applicable experience may be considered for substitution of degree requirement.

May require extensive knowledge on specific technologies or business functions.

EXPERIENCE

At least ten (10) years of technology experience demonstrating formal IT project management competencies.

PMI PMP certification may be substituted for up to two (2) years of professional experience.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. **
