Summary

We’re excited to be searching for a Project Control Specialist to join our dynamic Enterprise Services Section (ESS)! In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering project control services for capital projects and contracts, with a strong focus on work order contracts. Your work will directly support the development of the rehabilitation and asset management program within the KC Solid Waste Division (SWD), making a meaningful impact on the division’s long-term success.

Work order control services are one of the many ways the Project Resource Unit supports project managers and engineers across the division. We are filling one Career Service position and may use this recruitment to create a list of candidates for any potential vacancies in similar positions in the following 6 months. The classification of this position is Project/Program Manager III.

About the Role:

As SWD continues to invest resources towards the rehabilitation and management of its capital assets, the person in this role will play a key part in ensuring that work order contracting operations abide by federal, state, and local policy particularly in the areas of compliance and cost control. Work order contracts represent a key tool in assisting the agency in its multiyear asset management program. By ensuring the proper use of work order contracts, the chosen candidate and with the rest of the compliance team, will promote the continued use of a pivotal tool.

About the Team:

This role resides within the Project Resources Unit (PRU) of ESS which provides services to customers throughout the division. The PRU houses procurement and project control specialists. Together, the team provides all necessary services needed by capital and non- capital project managers in order to remain compliant of executive policy. The team, and its members, are looked upon as experts in their field who will educate, train, troubleshoot with project managers in order to find the best solution to any number of contract and project issues as they arise.

Working Conditions:

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
